Right in your eye, blogging scum
Joe Lieberman is setting up a blog with comments. Atrios think it's a trap
Joe Blog
A reminder that the Lieberman blog is apparently going live tomorrow. It's basically going to be a trap to entice people to say mean things about the Last Honest Man so they can go whine to the press about how mean everyone is unlike Stay the Course Joe. I give it about 36 hours until they send out a press release along those lines. I don't know why they're obsessed with pointing out how nobody likes Joe, but it seems to be their campaign strategy for some reason. Maybe they should try to talk about people who actually like him for a change, although that's pretty much Marshall Wittman, Bill Kristol, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, and assorted other conservatives.Oddly enough, look at the comments taken from the Lamont official blog. I'll even point out the nasty, anti-Lamont comments.
So, leave the Joe Blog to Joe and his pals the Bull Moose and Spezzatura. There are plenty of other places on the internets where you can say mean things about Joe.
The Day the World Stopped Spinning“A politics of unity and purpose” – “Ending partisan gridlock” – “political partisan nonsense”
You could ask Lieberman Party officials about the AL East penant race and Tammy Sun would give a treatise on partisanship.
What the heck happened? Before the primary, you couldn’t hear enough of Joe Lieberman’s Democratic credentials. He voted with the Party “ninety percent of the time!” That’s “even more than Harry Reid,” remember. Ned worked with Republicans as a Selectman and voted with them eighty percent of the time!
Someone on the campaign said before the primary, “it feels like we’re getting close to the point the world stops spinning, we achieve weightlessness for a few seconds, and it starts spinning again in the other direction.”
I think that point happened between 11:00 to 11:15 PM on Tuesday August 8.
Almost immediately Ned was a “partisan polarizer” whose victory gave aid to al-Qaeda. He would be bad for the Senate, you see, because he is, well… he believes in the core principles upheld by the Democratic Party.
And Joe … well, Joe rises above partisanship and political games as if he was the savior for a bitterly divided electorate really yearning for someone pretending to be all things to all people.
But to those who have been following and covering the campaign closely, Joe Lieberman has actually taken “politics” (the four letter meaning) to another level – continually treating us with disdain as if all statements made contradictory to the ones we’re currently hearing no longer apply.
I don’t think people hate politics – most of us think of it as an (too) elaborate system that should be used to improve lives and keep us safe. I think people hate the bi-products of politicians whose sole constituencies are themselves and those who help them achieve personal politcal power.
Joe Lieberman’s new campaign has taken the “dirty word” politics to sites unseen. It’s not above the fray … it is just the new fray.
But like the difference between Coke and Coke II, there’s no change, just a different package. You know, old Joe who ran his initial set of ads saying we were forced to “agree to disagree” on Iraq, but was giving “seat saving speeches” on how he was really the foremost challenger of President Bush’s failed policies in Iraq the night before the election.
His campaign IS politics, always has been – used by the Republican Party as a political football with the same kind of tactics alienating voters for decades; saying whatever it is that focus groups think sounds good in a quest to win an election; third party groups and Washington lobbyists rallying to Joe’s defense in a parallel quest to hold on to their own personal political power and maintain a broken status quo.
After 18 years in the Senate, you think Joe Lieberman is the vehicle for change at home and abroad people yearn for? His campaign has quickly become the most prescient example of the status quo. Who thought “stay the course” would truly be such a fitting campaign slogan for his effort?
But you wouldn’t know that if you only started listening to Joe Lieberman after the day the earth stopped spinning. And even if you did, you’ll no doubt be deluged by millions in status quo funded buttons, bumper stickers, and television advertisements.
“Low information voters.” Sean Smith may have been fired, but his spirit is alive and well inside the campaign he managed to defeat on August 8.
Comments:
The Ned Lamont campaign and his supporters have nothing to offer but to attack Joe Lieberman who has a solid 18 year record of service to the people of Connecticut. TLamont offers only a cut and run cowardly retreat agenda in the war against terrorists who killed 3000 Americans only 5 years ago on Sept. 11th. Many of them fellow Connecticut residents. This along Lamonts neo socialist tax and spend big government control of our lives. Ned lamont wants to replace Joe Lieberman’s solid record with a Lamont sorrid record to be. NO THANK YOU!

PS: Joe is now 12 points ahead in the latest pollsAww…Jonathan (Tom) Are you going to cry? Poor baby. Don’t worry, some day you might grow up and become a MAN. That day isn’t coming for quite a while though.
— Thugs Sep 4, 02:17 PM #Lieberman is running away from his record.
when anyone brings up his actual record of supporting NAFTA CAFTA and OFTA it is called an attack.
when someome mentions liebermans disasterous position it’s an attack.
when someone mentions lieberman’s misguided support of the medicare pharmaceutical giveaway it’s an attack.
I guess the truth can be an attack if it hurts
— anon Sep 4, 02:26 PM #At least tomorrow (so it is said) johnathan will be able to post on a website of like minded folks. It is time to take Lieberman’s last 18 years apart vote by vote. Jobs (NAFTA, CAFTA = actual loss of jobs in CT); environment (Cheney energy bill = blindness on conservation and windfall for big oil and dirty power plants); health care (not a damned thing—and oh, just mention Medicare presription drugs to people my mother’s age); Homeland Security (Brownie, FEMA under DHS and boondogle payments and witholding of legitmate payments).
It seems the latest mantra by the ditto-heads hammers on the fact that we haven’t been attacked since 9/11. Did they remember that the first attack on the WTC was in 1993? Terrorists are not on the Republican time table which is closely linked to election cycles.

Indeed, Lieberman is having a hard time answering for his terrible record.
Let’s not forget Katrina. Much of that disaster was man-made – by Joe Lieberman. Lieberman appointed Heckuva Job Brownie to lead FEMA in a Rubber-Stamp DHS committee hearing in an astonishing 42 minutes, with no references checked or other due diligence.
Today, corpses are still being found in NOLA. We will never know how many American lives were lost due to this horrific Lieberman blunder.
Joe Lieberman must be held accountable for Katrina, the Iraq War, and his many votes AGAINST Democratic causes.
It Isn’t Pretty.
— western 1 Sep 4, 02:40 PM #dear jonathon,
The current incumbents have spent more and been more intrusive into private lives than any Congress in US History. So we already have the “Socialist” government you fear.
BTW only 2200 people killed at the world trade center were americans. The rest were citizens of other countries. Countries that could have been partners in the war on terror and now sit on the sidelines because of Joe’s enabling the policies of George Bush. Of course this could be Al Queada’s plan. To pick off our allies so we will be alone. George and Joe have been chumps for this plan too.Either way we have been made weaker by people who said they were the “professionals”
— scott Sep 4, 02:42 PM #@Jonathan,
Did Ned Lamont sat anything about NOT being against Terrorism? Please find an example of when Ned said he was a supporter of Terrorism. Once you do, I’ll gladly change my vote, and vote for the guy in the green party (can’t get me to vot Lieberman just yet)In the meantime, a lot of big gov money, our tax dollars (I repeat, TAX DOLLARS) are being squandered in Iraq… the Invasion and Occupation of Iraq.
So Jonathan, how many Iraqi’s were involved in the attacks of Sept 11, 2001? Please tell me how Iraq had anything to do with Sept 11? And again, the money issue… so far we spent almost 300 BILIION (that Billion with B Jonathan) on Iraq. Do a little research, and see how that money could have been more wisely spent. So Jonathan, if that is your real name, feel free to take part in our discussions, but try coming in here with a better arguement, some actual facts, but just leave any insults somewhere else.

TODAY IT SEEMS THEY ARE ALL WORKING FOR NED LAMONTJonathan,
This isn’t the Free Republic or Drudge. I think that you might be a bit lost. You lament the lose of 3000 people on 9/11, what about the 3000 American troops lost in a fools crusade against a country who didn’t attack us, who didn’t have weapons of mass destruction, was, in the words of this administration, contained and not a threat. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis who lost their lives. And your throwing feces on this site makes you worse than the people you degrade. The democratic voters of CT chose not your guy, and he can’t deal with that. So go back to Sore Loserman, and let him know that we will just have to beat him twice.
— thom Sep 4, 05:16 PM #thom, don’t waste your time. Jonathan belongs in a ward for emotionally disturbed adolescents. Then again, I don’t know if he deserves that much credit.
The wonderful thing is that even he has the right to free speech.
This is on Lamont's campaign blog, and they aren't whining about the attacks made there. That's just part of internet life.
Let Lieberman set up a honey pot expecting nasty comments. If you are driven to post there, why not ask him about his record. I would say ignore it, but if you're going to waste time there, waste time with intelligent questions about his record.
I think if they expect a barrage of anti-semitic hate, they're going to be surprised.
